Class Descriptions & Dress Codes

Absolutely NO Tummies Showing in any classes! Leotard and tights required for most classes. Hip Hop and Jr. Funk do not require a leotard but tummies must be covered.

Two-Tu Cute
Ages 2 - 3 yrs. 30 min class. Does your little one love music and dancing? Two-Tu Cute is an excellent way to introduce your 2 year old to the world of dance! Students will learn fundamental dance positions and skills as well as social skills including turn taking and following directions, in a fun and safe environment. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Skirt or tutu allowed. Pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back off face.

Movement

Ages 3 - 5 yrs. 30 min class. A creative, ballet based dance class designed to introduce the students to the beginning skills needed for all forms of dance. Emphasis placed upon enhancing body awareness, motor skills, and balance. Themes, fun music and props create a magical atmosphere for the young dancers! Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Skirt or tutu allowed. Pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Broadway Babes

Ages 3-6 yrs. 30 min class. An introduction to Musical Theater for our younger dancers. Students will learn to utilize facial expressions to enhance performance, as well as enhance musicality and portraying emotions of a song. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Skirt or tutu allowed. Tan Jazz Shoes. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Ballet/ Tap Combo

Ages 5 - 7 yrs. 45 min. class. A class designed to build off the skills learned from Movement. Basic Ballet and Tap techniques are taught and built upon throughout the year. One half of class is ballet and the other half is tap! Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Skirt or tutu allowed. Pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Ballet I, II, III

Ages 7 yrs. & up. A disciplined dance form which is the core of all dance. Ballet creates poise, strength, flexibility and coordination in the body. It is highly recommended for students studying other dance forms as it will increase their progress. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan or black tights. Wrap skirt allowed (tutus and shorts prohibited). Pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back off face. Buns preferred.

Ballet IV/Pointe

Advanced progressions of ballet technique from the 3 main schools of ballet will be taught in both soft shoe & pointe. Additional pointe technique, partnering, character, and classical repertoire will also be learned.  (French, Vaganova, & Cecchetti). Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan or black tights. Wrap skirt allowed (tutus and shorts prohibited). Pink ballet slippers and pointe shoes approved by Miss Morgan. Hair should be pulled back off face. Buns preferred. 

Jazz

Ages 7 yrs. & up. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts allowed over leotard and tights. Tan Jazz Shoe. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Tap

Ages 7 yrs. & up. Metal plates are attached to the bottoms of shoes to create sound. Precise rhythmical patterns, music theory, and foot movement are studied to make the performer not only a dancer, but a percussive musician. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts allowed over leotard and tights. Black tap shoes (no high heeled tap shoes). Hair should be pulled back off face. 

 

Hip Hop (includes Tiny Hop)

A high-energy class designed to teach urban style combinations. Have fun learning the latest hot street moves while creating a strong foundation and core strength.

Tiny Hop: ages 4 yrs. to 7 yrs. 
Hip Hop l: ages 8 yrs. to 12 yrs. 
Hip Hop ll: ages 13 yrs. & up. 

Dress code: Form-fitting tank/t-shirt. Jazz/Sweat pants, leggings or shorts. Tennis shoes/sneakers or black combat boots. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Acro/Tumbling

Ages 3 yrs. & up. This class is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique. 

 

Tumbling: ages 3 yrs. to 6 yrs.

Acro I: ages 7 yrs. and up
Acro II: *Front and Back Limber Required 
Acro III: ** Front and Back Walkover Required 
 

Dress code: Leotard, shorts, bare feet (tights optional). Hair should be pulled back off face.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Ages 7 yrs. & up. Lyrical and Contemporary dance are not techniques, but styles.  Each style is unique, but has many similarities. Lyrical and Contemporary dance fuse the 3 dance techniques of ballet, jazz, and modern. Lyrical portrays the lyrics or message of a song through movement, while the purpose of Contemporary is to act out a song. Contemporary can be danced to instrumental music or songs with lyrics, and can include other influences such as acrobatics. 

 

Open Lyrical ages 7 yrs. to 12 yrs.

Advanced Lyrical/Contemporary ages 13 yrs. and up

 

Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts allowed over leotard and tights. Lyrical shoes. Hair should be pulled back off face. 

Leaps & Turns

A class dedicated to studying the techniques of perfecting leaping and turning. Dancers will work on advanced pirouette combinations and other various turns, as well as multi-step leap and jump combinations in this class.
Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts allowed over leotard and tights. Lyrical or jazz shoes. Hair should be pulled back off face.

Stretch & Strengthening

In this conditioning-style class, students will work on core strength and flexibility. Proper stretching is important for dancers to maintain skills and stay safe when dancing. Students will also work on and learn proper stretching techniques. Dress code: Leotard. Pink, tan, or black tights. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts allowed over leotard and tights. Socks and Tennis shoes/sneakers. Hair should be pulled back off face.

NOTE: SHOES MAY BE FITTED AND ORDERED AT STUDIO.  PLEASE CHECK WITH MISS MORGAN TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT SHOE FOR YOUR CLASS BEFORE PURCHASING!!!  (May vary depending on class enrolled in, so always check with Morgan first!)
